The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, says she went missing from a few of her friends and was sexually assaulted after her drink was spiked at the North Gong Hotel on Sunday night.
The brave woman took to social media to air details of the alleged incident, which is believed to have happened about 9pm.
My goal is to find this person, prosecute them and make sure they know this is not okay anymore. Not in the world I want to be living in.
Using a post on the 'UOW Students Buy and Sell' Facebook page, she issued an appeal for anyone who saw anything that night to come forward and pleaded for others to be careful.
"To any young chickee [sic] like me in the Gong, and to any young women anywhere in Aus be careful!," she wrote.
"Be conscious of who you accept drinks off and take care of your friends!! Never hurts to take your friend with you to the bar instead of going alone. Educate yourself about this issue if you can.
"I’ve read the statistics and never thought it’d happen to me but it did and it does happen and it could be anywhere, anytime."
The incident was reported to police late on Monday.
The woman said she was "doing OK", despite being "covered in bruises and scratches".
"I’m learning from this and will forever be more conscious of my drinks when I go out," she said.
"If you want to, like me, spread awareness and stop this shit from happening please like or share this [Facebook post].
"My goal is to find this person, prosecute them and make sure they know this is not okay anymore. Not in the world I want to be living in."
Wollongong police would not comment, citing the investigation was in its infancy.
