The former TAFE West Wollongong art and design teacher has created paintings and textiles her whole life.

But the bulk of art she will be parting with are items made while caring for her late husband Doug, and after his passing.

"He was ill for 5 years, it turned to [prostate] cancer ... but all Doug's organs really broke down," she said. 

"I've gone and cured some depression because I've lost five members of my family - and Doug was the second last - in a year.

"And I had to go into my brain and realise all the love I've had in my life [and put that into my work]."

Mrs Huckel found solace in making hats, vests, scarves and suits - largely from yarn spun by Doug. The Australian landscape has played a large influence in her garments as well as her paintings.

"You do what you love doing, but if you can't help people then you're not much a human being," she said.

Anyone wanting to view her work can make an appointment on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays with sales welcome - the aim to raise several thousand dollars for research into Parkinson's disease.
