The Princes Highway reopened about 2pm on Tuesday after all lanes were earlier closed.
It's understood at least three cars were involved in the crash on the Princes Highway at McGrath Street just before 9am.
Firefighters have freed the female driver of a white Hyundai hatchback after she was initially trapped in the accident. Early reports suggest she suffered chest and pelvic injuries.
A father and his two 14-year-old sons, travelling in a silver Toyota Camry Altise, were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Norm Rees said the father was taken to hospital complaining of chest injuries.
One of his sons, who was sitting in the middle, back seat of the vehicle, was taken to hospital with possible abdominal injuries. The other boy was not injured.
All three were able to get themselves out of the vehicle.
The driver of a third car travelling behind the white hatchback said the force of the head-on crash pushed the car back into her vehicle. She was not injured.
Firefighters, police, ambulance and Roads and Maritime Services are at the scene.
