You may have seen a pendant or a life-size cross with Jesus depicted on it. While it may help us to remember the enormous sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf, it doesn't show the whole picture.
The cross should not have Jesus on it because Jesus is no longer on the cross - he died once and for all for our sins but more importantly, he rose from the dead three days later.
That is the good news.

If Jesus died and didn't rise again, there would not be much point in celebrating because that would mean that God did not win over death - the consequences of sin. Mankind would therefore not triumph over death either.
Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord".
In 1 Corinthians 15:14-20, apostle Paul lists several reasons why it is important that Jesus rose from the dead.
"And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless...And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.
"In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.
"But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died."
So come to church this Good Friday and Easter Sunday to thank God for this wonderful news.
The resurrection shows the power of God. The only person who can raise someone from the dead is the Creator God! The resurrection proves that God is sovereign over life and death.
