The accident site has been cleared, but traffic on Lawrence Hargrave Drive remains heavy as at 11.30am.
It's understood the driver, 28, lost control of his car and crashed into two parked cars just before 10am. The car rolled onto its side and trapped the driver.
Initial reports suggest a pedestrian was also involved in the accident, but was unharmed.
An ambulance helicopter was sent to the scene, but later called off.
A spokesman from the Transport Management Centre said the driver was "semi-conscious".
He said an off-duty firefighter was on the scene early and supported the driver's neck until other emergency personnel arrived.
Roads and Maritime Services were also at the scene near the intersection of Moore Street.
