What better way to wrap up the week than connecting with country and culture on Saturday, May 25 from noon at Killalea Reflections Reserve.
The day will include the Scouts climbing wall, make a kite and fly it, activities from Shellharbour City Council's environment team, a creativity station, Paint with Magic storytime and painting activities, Beat Construction, Circus Play Zone, sack races, UOW Motorsport's racing simulator and live performances by young artists.
The event will close with a lantern parade followed by an open-air cinema screening of the original Storm Boy.
A key part of KidsFest is about giving kids the opportunity to connect with Aboriginal culture so there will be a performance by the Gumaraa Aboriginal Dancers and a welcome to country and smoking ceremony at Killalea, a place of cultural significance where Aboriginal people have lived and celebrated for thousands of years.
This is an unforgettable experience. As Uncle Gerald says, "I call it reconciliation - bringing our culture to non-Indigenous people."
