The Wollongong Hawks are poised to sign two more players for the 2009-10 NBL season.Two-time Olympian Glen Saville yesterday confirmed he was on the verge of finalising a one-year contract, while the club is also believed to have reached an agreement with an Australian-born centre.Saville has played 14 of his 15 NBL seasons with Wollongong and is the club's record-holder for most points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. The 33-year-old has fielded offers from rival clubs but his heart lies with the Hawks."Everything's heading in the right direction and I'm very close to signing with the Hawks," Saville said."I'm not quite ready to make an announcement yet, but we're definitely getting closer. There's still one or two minor things that my agent (Geoff McGuire) is sorting out, but it's nothing that's going to be a deal breaker."Hawks chief executive Wayne Morris said he was "still chatting" with McGuire and hoped to sign Saville within the next couple of days.Morris would not elaborate on the identity of the other player the Hawks are close to securing. He would only reveal that the mystery player was a centre with NBL experience.Wollongong have already signed Mat Campbell and Cam Tragardh, while Larry Davidson has been joining Saville and Campbell for daily workouts at the Snakepit and is keen to return to the club next season. Also eager to return for a third season is former Illawarra junior standout and one-time Australian under 19 representative Dan Jackson. The 21-year-old is playing with Mackay in the Queensland State League and hopes there is a spot for him at the Hawks."Obviously they'll try and sign Sav and few of the other guys first so it's a wait and see situation for me at the moment. But my agent's talking to them and hopefully something can be sorted out," Jackson said. "I heard a couple of things that (coach) Gordie (McLeod) will want a strong local influence, so I'm hoping that could work in my favour."The Hawks open their campaign with a home game against Perth on September 25.
