Saturday night again see the Stars of Wollongong take over the WIN Entertainment Centre with identities from the region pulling on their dancing shoes to raise money for a good cause.
Stars of Wollongong raises much needed funds for the Cancer Council NSW.
The event pairs identities with a dance partner to perform a routine on the night with some special guest judges to announce an overall winner.
The couples have now been working for 12 weeks on their routine in front of the crowd of about 500 people.
The Illawarra Mercury will be represented on the night by Laura Saddi, who is set to burn up the floor,
Also among the dancers are identities such as Illawarra Hawks basketballer Tim Coenraad, radio personality Ryan Cram and fashion fitness entrepreneur Lisa Trujillo.
Leading the charge for the business identities will be the likes of prominent Wollongong businessman Rob Starcic and Regional Development Australia Illawarra CEO Debra Murphy.
Already $125,000 has been raised, which is an incredible effort by the team involved.
Since it started in 2015, the event has raised over $310,000 to assist the Cancer Council's programs in this region.
Speaking at the launch earlier this year, Grant Plecas said the event was vital for cancer services in this region.
"Because the money that we raise goes directly back into our community," Mr Plecas said.
"To manage Alkira Lodge, an accommodation facility at the hospital ... we also have a transport service that transports anyone who needs treatment."
What a terrific community effort.
