The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting vigorous winds in South East NSW from Thursday afternoon and gusty showers on Thursday night.
The Bureau has also issued a marine wind warning with strong winds likely along the coast and a gale warning for the Batemans Bay area,
On Friday there is a gale warning for coastal areas in the Illawarra, Hunter, Sydney, Batemans Bay and Eden.
The warnings coincides with a series of cold fronts crossing southeastern Australia from Thursday until Sunday.
For areas below 1900 metres damaging winds are forecast to average 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h possible for the Snowy Mountains and eastern parts of the southern ranges including the Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast and Australian Capital Territory from late Thursday afternoon.
The top temperature on the Southern Highlands this weekend is likely to be as low as 8 degrees and the cold nights could bring snow.
