There are a range of exercises that can help with these types of jumps to ensure you get the ball, or jump further and faster than your opponents.
These exercises include jump squats (either done just with bodyweight or a barbell), step leg drives (placing your foot on a bench), squats with a barbell, plyometrics (which include bounding and hopping to increase leg power and strength), and dead lifts (to strengthen hamstrings, glutes and lower back).
All these movements will create a more powerful muscle fibre that allows to to leap further and faster.
