Australian Parents for Climate Action (AP4CA) is calling on all parents who are worried about their children's future to take part in the September 20 global event.
AP4CA Illawarra organisers Gabi Martinez and Melissa Bungcaras will be marching with students at the Wollongong strike and have encouraged other parents to meet at Quotes Cafe's premises at 91 Crown Street at 11.30am.
"Australian parents are worried about the future their children face due to global heating. We need to speak up and tell our politicians we need emergency action now," Mrs Martinez said.
The mother of two high schoolers added AP4CA was formed by a group of concerned parents in January this year and already had more than 3000 members across the country.
Fellow Illawarra member Mrs Bungcaras said new groups were forming all the time.
Our unique challenge as parents today is that we are uncertain what the future holds as the climate crisis develops. It is frightening.

"Our unique challenge as parents today is that we are uncertain what the future holds as the climate crisis develops. It is frightening," she said.
"The early start to the bushfire season this year is a sign of what is to come.
"There is a threat that by the time our children are adults there may be food or water shortages.
"The climate crisis is threatening our society and planet."
Mrs Martinez said parents were angry and scared about this, and wanted action.
"Solutions like affordable and renewable energy are available - we just need the political will," she said.
The rally and march starts outside the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre at 12pm.
