The $250,000 playground upgrade at Charles Harper Park was officially opened on Tuesday, with new equipment, seating, artwork and shade structures replacing the 12-year-old play space at the park.
Helensburgh mother Kayla Price said she and her three children would be using the play space daily as it catered for a range of ages.
"It's such a wonderful playground for the little toddlers and the older children as well," she said.
"Scarlett loves climbing the wooden teepee frame, Willow loves playing in the water with the pumping tap and Hunter loves running through the tunnel hiding from the kids while playing hide and seek!"
Children were instrumental in planning and designing the playground, which incorporates art works made by the children as well as local mining history.
"This is an inclusive play space for all children and includes a wheelchair accessible trampoline, communication boards and a natural play area that features water pumps and a dry creek bed," Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
"The new district play space will provide a real attraction for children and families, as it is co-located with the local pool and new barbecue area."
