The three-year-old filly, ridden by Troy Phillips, secured her maiden win in the Climax Air Conditioning Maiden Plate over 1000m on Melbourne Cup Day. Her previous best result was a third place at Nowra in April.
Rockets'N'Roses has a strong pedigree. Her sire Smart Missile's record includes wins at Royal Randwick and Rosehill while her dam Full Bloom saluted at Hong Kong's Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses.
"I raced her four times as a two-year-old. In hindsight, she raced two more races than she should have," Roberts said.
"She was immature. I think a lot of trainers got excited because she was a two-year-old by Smart Missile.
"She's definitely [physically[ stronger and mentally stronger. I need to get a few more notches on the belt and hopefully she can go back to the city if she proves herself."
