Yes, people of the Illawarra, it's time to be appy and download the Australian Government's COVIDSafe app so we can all start to benefit from a loosening of restrictions surrounding our day-to-day life.
The app was released on Sunday and already over one million Australians have downloaded the application.
However, experts are predicting the app will need to be downloaded by 40 per cent of the population to be successful so there is a long way to go.
It will help the Australian Government track and contain outbreaks of the virus into the future, but in doing so allows for a relaxation of some of the toughest measures that have been in place restricting our movements and interactions.
You want sport back and to freely go to the beach again?
Download the app.
You want to go back to your workplace to socialise with your colleagues or go freely to the local shopping mall to sit down for a coffee?
Download the app.
If you want life to stay like it is currently and has been?
Don't download the app.
Pretty simple really.
Naturally, there has been concerns stressed about privacy issues and that's understandable.
But let's hope those concerns about the tracking measures don't have Facebook or Google accounts because there's a fair chance those companies already know more about you than the government ever will.
Ever wonder how Facebook manages to throw up an ad in your feed just when you were thinking or talking about something? Just coincidence? Um, no. No it's not.
Many of us have felt helpless during this period of isolation, unable to really help the situation our world has found itself in outside of staying at home and minimising any contact with our fellow humans.
Well, here is something proactive you can do to better the situation we are being faced with, so don't miss your chance.
