DPI/Fisheries tagging report highlights a samsonfish released by Adam Kozuszko aboard Baron on February 19, 2010, has been recaptured after 10 years and one month at liberty, which is a new record for the program. Adam originally tagged the samsonfish during one of his trips to Rocky Island, South Australia where it measured at 100cm and was estimated to weigh around 10kg.
On March 26, 2020, Wayne Matthews recaptured the fish in the same area, while fishing aboard Reel Therapy Charters after a quick battle on 24kg jigging tackle.
Skipper Ryan Carlisle measured the fish at 130cm and 16kg and after a few photos it was re-released in excellent condition. Upon recapture, the fish was only two nautical miles (3.7km) from where it was released 3688 days prior.
