The 18-year-old put pen to paper on a new deal with Canberra United last week. It will be her second year at the club and James will aim to make her debut when the competition begins on December 27.
James's Stingrays teammate Lauren Keir also recently re-signed with the Canberra club.
"Playing alongside her in NPL and again in W-League is going to be really good. We're friends as well off the field as well," James said.
"I think I learned a lot [at the Stingrays]. The speed of play is a lot faster and it was a massive learning curve for me, and I'm grateful for the experience."
James said she was "super excited" to re-sign with Canberra United.
"This year, hopefully we can make top four. Unfortunately that didn't happen last year, but that's the goal. We just want to play well," she said.
