Lake Illawarra officers were called to a dispute between neighbours at Callistemon Place around 7.45pm.
Soon afterwards, a 48-year-old man arrived at the address and allegedly became aggressive towards police before entering a home.
He emerged wielding a cricket bat and then ran down the street. When asked to drop the bat, he allegedly moved towards police and threatened them.
After ignoring their demands, police tasered the man.
The man was then taken to Shellharbour Hospital under police guard for treatment for a pre-existing condition and later discharged.
He has since been charged with assaulting police and affray.
He will appear in Port Kembla Local Court on January 27.
