The annual Christmas Eve event on Daisy Street - led by coffee shop the Broken Drum, florist Hello Petal and fish market Harley and John's - turns a tedious wait in line for lobsters and prawns into a festive block party.
This year indie-folk singer Kay Proudlove will entertain socially-distanced shoppers with a pavement performance from 9am to 11am.
"Kay is going to be out on the street, singing and serenading everyone in the queue for the fish market," Broken Drum co-owner Jo McLuskey said.
"There'll be five of us in here to pump it out and normally we walk the queue, ask if people want coffee, come back in to make it and take it back out.
"We're going to be all dressed up in Christmas costumes, the florist is going to be open and it's just going to be a really fun day."
The Broken Drum expects to serve 8kg of coffee beans (or 300 people), while Harley and John's is set to offload a whopping four tonnes of prawns and 2500 oysters.
"It's crazy, we go from 6 to 3 and people start lining up at 5am," owner Grant Logue said.
"It normally takes about 20 minutes to get into the shop.
"With COVID, we've got a bigger set up out the back this year and we're only stocking local lobsters to support our local fisherman."
If the day is anything like last year's, Melissa Cherrie of Hello Petal Flowers will clear her shop of flowers by closing time.
"We'll be doing at least 80 deliveries, with three cars on the road to have as many orders out by lunch as we can," she said.
"Then we'll also end up selling maybe 80 bunches of Christmas bush, with any leftovers donated to the local aged care and palliative care awards."
The Blackduck Studio across the road is selling air-dry take home kits, while the nearby Sensory Studio is packed with educational and sensory toys for kids.
Harley and John's 6am-3pm, The Broken Drum 6am-12pm, Hello Petal 7am-1pm.
Elsewhere, the Eat Street Market is hosting a special Christmas Eve evening in Crown Street Mall, kicking off at 5pm.
