Shellharbour City Council regulation officers will be conducting regular patrols at Bass Point Reserve and Reddall Reserve at Lake Illawarra on Boxing Day and throughout the busy summer period.
Both locations will be inspected in mornings and evenings to determine whether any potential campers are present. Fines may apply.
Officers will also be ensuring that visitors comply with parking regulations at both sites. The Department of Fisheries will also be conducting regular patrols.
Visitors to Bass Point Reserve are reminded that off-road four-wheel-driving is prohibited in all parts of the reserve. Any driving must be confined to designated roads within the reserve.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba advised people to pay attention to signage at both locations.
"We want to ensure our beautiful reserves are protected, respected and enjoyed by all users," Cr Saliba said.
"Council has also arranged for additional afternoon cleaning, restocking of amenities and the emptying of bins for visitor convenience."
Council staff are asking residents and visitors to remain vigilant and report illegal behaviour.
People should contact the council on 4221 6111 to report illegal camping, parking and litter.
For issues regarding bag limits and over-fishing, contact the Department of Primary Industries Fisheries Compliance team on 1800 043 536 or online.
To report anti-social or criminal behaviour contact Lake Illawarra Police on 4232 5599 or 131 444.
