Just after 7pm, officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were conducting patrols of Warilla when they saw an Audi A6 on Ponsford Street, that had been reported stolen from Dapto earlier the same day.
It's alleged the man in the driver seat noticed police approaching the vehicle and drove away.
A pursuit was initiated and terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.
With assistance from PolAir, the vehicle was located in bushland near Baronga Avenue at Berkeley.
Police later arrested a 29-year-old man hiding in a home on Nannawilli Street, about 8pm.
During a search of the house, police seized a Yamaha motorcycle that had been reported stolen, clothing and a bag. The items will undergo further examination.
The man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period and drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.
An outstanding arrest warrant relating to fraud offences was also executed.
The Berkeley man was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday.
