At Monday's night's Wollongong City Council meeting Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery will ask council staff to investigate the creation of a dedicated cycling path along Cliff Road, turning it into one lane for vehicles.

This would see the cyclists moved off what Cr Bradbery said was an increasingly congested section of the shared pathway.
"The numbers of people who were using that space is getting to a point where it's become critical that we need to look at ways we can separate the cyclists and the pedestrians," Cr Bradbery said.
His suggestion is to create a cycleway in both directions on Cliff Road, by limiting it to one-way vehicular traffic.
"It's not necessarily that these are the answers but these are possible ways in which we can better manage the number of people using that space and making sure that we have vehicle access to it and cycling and so on," Cr Bradbery said.
That said, Cr Bradbery was aware the suggestion of making Cliff Road one-way would likely be the most controversial part of his proposal.
"That might cause a little bit of concern but at the same time it's taking Cliff Road and making it a destination not a thoroughfare as far as I'm concerned," Cr Bradbery said.
"Corrimal Street is the major arterial road."
