The man killed in Friday morning's crash at Tahmoor is believed to be aged in his 30s.
He died at the scene after his Nissan Pulsar and collided with a Mitsubishi Challenger at the intersection of Rockford Road and Kammer Place.
The driver of the second vehicle, a woman in her 60s, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
Officers from the Camden Police Area Command and Macarthur Highway Patrol attended and began an investigation into the circumstances surround the crash.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

A female patient has been taken to hospital following a crash that claimed a life at Tahmoor on Friday morning.
The two-vehicle collision occurred on Rockford Road shortly before 11.30am.
Despite the efforts of bystanders and paramedics, a male occupant of one of the vehicles died at the scene.
A female occupant was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
"Paramedic crews arrived to a chaotic scene this morning involving two patients in separate vehicles," NSW Ambulance's Inspector Stuart Smith said.
"Unfortunately, one patient died at the scene despite the effort of paramedics and other first responders.
"This is a timely reminder to take care on our roads. Your life and the life of others can change in a split second."

A person has died in a two-car collision at Tahmoor on Friday.
