Bulli had amassed 23 goals, including a 7-1 demolition of Shell Cove, to take out the pre-season Fraternity Cup, as well as a perfect 10-nil thumping of Holroyd Rangers in the FFA Cup third round. They again led at half-time, but second half strikes from Hikaru Kawasakiya turned the tide, Olympic winning 2-1.
Kawasakiya found the net in the 56th and 75th minutes, after Luke Van Zyl had made the breakthrough for Bulli injury time before the break.
Alboin Park beat Cringila 1-nil and Port Kembla overpowered South Coast United 4-1.
Elsewhere, Coniston started their campaign with an entertaining 3-2 win over Corrimal on Friday night, while Bellambi's clash with Woonona and Wollongong United's meeting with Tarrawanna were postponed due to pitch condition.
