Cr Kellie Marsh has tabled a motion for Tuesday's council meeting requesting the council investigate CCTV camera installation at Bass Point in order to monitor antisocial behaviour.
Cr Marsh said there had been many community reports of cars speeding and other unwanted activities.
Cr Marsh said she had previously lobbied council for CCTV there, and believed the antisocial behaviour escalated during holiday times.
"Council has spent quite a lot of money on damage and repairs to everything from bollards onwards, and ripping up of ground that should not be driven on," she said.
"We have a sacred place down at Bass Point, and we need to make sure we look after it for future generations.
"Unfortunately there's some members in our community that are doing the wrong thing... The community are quite sick of it, as am I.
"With more people going into the Shell Cove area, and there will be more tourism coming into that vicinity, we need to look at some long-term solutions."
Inspector Dan Richardson from Lake Illawarra Police District said police had recently responded to a number of complaints regarding antisocial behaviour at Bass Point.
"Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District and the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command have increased patrols and taskings to the area as a result," he said.
"Police urge the community to contact police as they see anti-social behaviour occurring, and to take particular note of registration plates and any other information that may assist with investigations into this type of behaviour.
"Anyone with information about dangerous driver behaviour is urged to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
