The Shellharbour talent has drawn Swiss youngster Leonie Kung in a favourable start to the tournament.
The 25-year-old must win three matches to progress to the main draw, her campaign to commence on Wednesday night (AEST).
Perez arrived in London in high spirits, having progressed to the women's doubles final at last week's WTA Birmingham event.
Partnering with Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, that pair came agonisingly close to taking out the title.
After dropping the first set, Perez and Jabeur fought back to take the second and force a match tiebreaker. The decider went down to the wire, Lucie Hradecka and Marie Bouzkova eventually prevailing.
Perez also remains optimistic of competing at the Olympics, the left-hander awaiting an announcement over the coming days.
