Cancar has been part of the Wanderers' NSW National Premier League efforts as well as making 10 appearances in the first team squad, since returning to Australia after a stint in Croatia.
Western Sydney coach Carl Robinson praised the Young Socceroos defender's development.
"Phillip is a player that we have kept a close eye on during his development in the Wanderers system over the last year," Robinson said in announcing the contract extension.
"Phillip played an integral role and was a strong player in our National Premier League squad and we look forward to watching him continue to grow.
"He has worked extremely hard in the off-season and pre-season and we are excited to see him take the next step in his development." The A-League season kicks off next week.
