Or worse, do you remember the keep cup just in time to realise you haven't washed it since your last coffee?
Blackbird Cafe in Thirroul is leading the charge for solutions to your environmentally-friendly coffee woes.
The cafe is running a local BYO Cup Week campaign, with innovative ideas for venues to help their customers make greener choices.
One is a "mug library" - which is exactly what it sounds like.
Participating cafes have a stash of mugs for takeaway coffees, which can be returned at your next coffee purchase - no washing required.
Green Caffeen has an app to facilitate these exchanges at participating cafes.
Blackbird Thirroul owner Chris Henry said he's hoping to entice as many other local venues to get on board as possible.
"We're right on the beach, in one of the most beautiful parts of the world - we want to reduce waste as much as possible," he said.
"It saves costs for the business too, we go through so many single use cups.
"Once you get customers to change their habits they're really happy to get on board."
BYO Cup Week kicks off on December 1.
