Illawarra residents are being urged to be vigilant after 23 new COVID-19 cases were announced on Friday, almost double the number from the previous day.

Twenty-one cases reside in the Wollongong Local Government Area, with only nine linked to known cases.
The majority of cases live in the 2500 postcode (14); three in the 2515 postcode; two in the 2519 postcode and one each in the 2517 and 2526 postcodes.
There has also been one case in the Shellharbour LGA (2527 postcode), which is linked to a known case, and one case under investigation in Kiama (2533 postcode).
The 23 cases in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District are among 337 new cases recorded across the state in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
There have been 2591 cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since June.
Following a Public Health Alert being issued, the community is being reminded that anyone who attended several Wollongong venues at the times listed should come forward for testing immediately.
The local health district is also urging the community to continue to come forward for vaccination. For more information visit www.health.gov.au.
The district's vaccination clinics are now offering a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine to people aged 18 years and older, six months after their second dose. Appointments are preferred and can be made by calling the ISLHD Booking Team on 1300 096 365 during business hours, or online via the ISLHD COVID-19 Vaccination Support form.
