The multicoloured 20-metre slide is just one of the fantastic features of the new two-hectare park, which includes outdoor exercise equipment, a multi-games area, shade structures with seating for families to gather and accessible car parking.
The rain held off for incumbent Shellharbour mayor Marianne Saliba and Head of NSW, Communities at Lendlease Ranisha Clarke to officially welcome children and parents that had gathered for the opening of Calderwood Valley's second district park.
Ranisha said this is just the beginning of a master plan which will see another five local parks, two City wide parks and future sporting fields delivered in the city of Shellharbour.

"We see the local park as playing an important role in the health and well-being of residents," Ranisha said.
"It is a place where families can gather and their children can play.
"Over time as this projects develops there will ultimately be a park within a five minute walk or 400 metres of every home."
The 700-hectare Calderwood Valley site will provide around 4,800 homes for an estimated 12,500 residents and bike and walking trail stretching over 30kms.
