Now, the 15-year-old will spend even more on the greens when he begins an apprenticeship at Wiseman Park Bowling Club later this month.
The club approached Dylan last week with a greenkeeper apprenticeship after hearing about Illawarra ITeC's 100 jobs in 100 days campaign for indigenous job seekers.
When the Tarrawanna resident spent a week on work experience as a greenkeeper last year, the club's managers were impressed.
Club secretary manager Peter Bott said Dylan's work ethic was commendable.
"He's mature for his age, which always helps in the workplace," Mr Bott said.
Although he was hesitant to leave school at first, Dylan accepted the position because he enjoyed his work experience and taking care of the grounds.
"I'll get the greens done and the surrounds, then play bowls.
"Now that I've been offered this opportunity so early, I want to take it," he said.
Campaign manager Barbara Brennan said 11 people had been offered jobs during the first three weeks of the 100 jobs in 100 days campaign.
"It's going really well.
"It's good to see employers have us on the tip of their tongue," she said.
"We hope more employers will join in."
Employers receive $4000 from the Australian Apprenticeship Centre for each apprenticeship and a further $6600 if they employ an indigenous job seeker.
