Eric Wagstaff had suffered serious burns in the Geering Street blaze but managed to escape by jumping from a first floor balcony.

His 88-year-old wife Lillian died in the house fire.

Mr Wagstaff was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital on Monday, where he remained until he died earlier this afternoon.
