Shellharbour City Council has removed the charges for disposal of e-waste after securing the services of Matthews Metal Management to accept any unwanted electrical items through the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme.
The scheme was established to reduce the amount of e-waste going to landfill and the environmental and safety implications.
"With advances in technology making new items often more cost effective than fixing old products, we are finding that more electronic waste is finding its way into landfill," Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said.
"Not only can e-waste products leach hazardous materials into the environment, they cost the community money in managing landfill expenses."
Ms Saliba said there will be no charge to dispose of e-waste at Dunmore for anyone, not just residents of Shellharbour City.
