Police and Rural Fire Service units attended Otford Road around midday, after reports people were trapped inside a truck that had driven off an embankment.
The reports of trapped passengers proved incorrect, but emergency services arrived to find the flatbed truck lodged in scrub and trees, just metres from several homes.
The driver of the truck, carrying dirt, is believed to have misjudged a sharp corner, crossed to the wrong side of the road and hit a power pole.
An Endeavour Energy technician said there was no electricity risk as the pole had been detached from the main power supply by the collision.
A co-worker of the driver said the man was ‘‘lucky’’ and not badly injured, but an RFS member said a passenger was taken to hospital with more serious injuries.
Bronwyn Xavier, a nearby resident, arrived home to lights flashing and emergency services trucks blocking her street.
Ms Xavier said she had lived on Otford Road for three years, and had
heard of several serious accidents on the narrow strip.
‘‘There are a lot of hoons that come this way from the national park,’’ she said.
No further information was available on passenger or driver.
