The appointment is testament to Carol’s ongoing service and ministry to the community through the churches of St Paul’s, Narooma, and All Saints, Bodalla.
The promotion brings increased responsibilities. As Archdeacon to the Coast, the now Venerable Carol Wagner will assist in the administration of the Diocese of Canberra-Goulburn and have oversight of Anglican churches from the Victorian border to Batemans Bay, which includes the Sapphire Coast, Bega, Cobargo, Bermagui, Tilba, Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay.
Foremost in Carol’s responsibilities will be the care of the clergy and people, as well as the efficient functioning of the various parishes.
Carol’s appointment took place at the beginning of a service in St Saviour’s Cathedral, Goulburn, on Saturday 27 February. At the same service, 17 candidates were ordained as deacons.
One of the new deacons is the Reverend Karly Ferguson from Narooma. Karly will now assist Carol in the local parish.
1100 people attended the service in St Saviours. Some 50 people travelled by bus and car to Goulburn from Narooma and Bodalla as an expression of support and goodwill for Carol and Karly.
