Colleen Baxter is the Christian Democratic Party (CDP) candidate for Wollongong.
Born in Sydney, Colleen moved to the Illawarra as a child. A Mt Keira resident, she has experience in the music industry and children’s services.
Colleen has worked in the Illawarra as a clerk in financial, legal and superannuation industries. “I care deeply about the well-being of the people in Wollongong,” Colleen said.
If elected, improving public transport, new local jobs, small business and health care are some of the areas Colleen will focus on.
Ms Baxter wants to see an upgrade of rail services, reducing the number of hours that locals spend in commuting to Sydney and other areas.
Grants and cuts to red tape are measures that she believes will inspire growth in the region. “My passion is to see the people of the Illawarra employed and thriving; local businesses and local jobs need to be encouraged,” the CDP candidate said.

Having been the primary carer for her parents before their passing, Colleen understands the need for increased funding for aged care, and also calls for better registered nurse/patient-resident ratios.
“I am keen to see a restoration of honesty and integrity in the seat of Wollongong, and am committed to the well-being of families and community here,” Colleen said.
“It’s time to make a stand for the protection of families, marriage and children, as well as increased health care for the vulnerable in our society – and not just in a superficial way. I am an ordinary Australian who supports you in these issues.”
