The pair was among hundreds of Illawarra residents, organised into 49 teams, who took part in the annual Cancer Council fundraiser held at the Albion Park Showground at the weekend.
Cancer Council community engagement manager Grant Plecas praised the generosity of participants and sponsors, saying the event was on target to raise upwards of $80,000.
“The atmosphere was amazing; the community really embraced the feeling of the event,” he told Fairfax Media on Sunday evening.
“It really showed how passionate people are about our cause.”
Mr Plecas said a large portion of the money raised would go directly towards supporting local initiatives including transport services for cancer patients and a SunSmart program running at the Links golf course.
