Contractor Downer will be upgrading the water supply facility on Pioneer Drive from April for about five months, Shellharbour MP Anna Watson said.
The works were to improve the water system and help protect public health with a new rechlorination building and equipment, truck turning bay and delivery bund.
Ms Watson said efforts would be made to minimise disturbance during the work, but residents may notice dust and construction noise.
Traffic management will be in place during different stages of the work. Work hours will be 7am-6pm Monday to Friday and 8am-1pm on Saturdays if required.
