Jacob Sheil and Morgan Whittall will play a pivotal role in the all-important offensive line while Corey Fuller will feature in the Defensive line and Brandt Robinson will line-up at running back for the Wolverines.
Mustangs coach Michael Woellner will also play the role of Wolverines offensive coach at the tournament that begins with an always fierce NSW v Queensland clash on Saturday and continues over the following seven days.
For Sheil, it’s the first step to emulating his uncle Glen Fenwick who has previously represented Australia and introduced his nephew to to sport a little over 12 months ago.
“I started playing and got involved in the [Mustangs] through my uncle who who played for Australia and introduced to the sport,” Sheil said.
“I used to play basketball my family has a rugby league background but it’s really different to sports like rugby league and rugby union so there’s a lot to learn.”
It will be the Wolverines first hit-out in full game conditions but Sheil is confident they’ve laid the ground work, particularly in the intricacies of the offensive line, to give the tournament a shake.
“It’s a lot of mental stuff, preparing yourself and you’ve got to get to know the other guys you’re working with so you can all work together as a team,” Sheil said.
“We have a really strong team, everyone does their part well so I think we’ll go pretty well up there.”
