The car went up in flames about 3.30pm Monday, at Robertson Lookout, off Harry Graham Drive.
The fire is causing a plume of smoke that can be seen from long-range.
Rural Fire Service crews from Mount Keira and Mount Kembla are responding.
Update: 4.15pm: The fire has been extinguished. It briefly spread to a tree on the roadside before it was fully contained.
The Mercury understands the car involved was a BA Ford Falcon ute, unoccupied when emergency services arrived.
