Still only 26, Kelly has been a Super League standout since off-field issues destabilised his 47-game NRL career.
He bagged a double against the Dragons and went close to a third try on a number of occasions as he pressed for the victory late in the match.
The performance was a timely reminder of what he may still have to offer the NRL should a club be willing to take a chance on him in the future.
After a quiet showing against Wigan in Wollongong a week earlier, Hull coach Lee Radford was pleased to see his marquee man bounce back.
“We didn’t see the best of Alby last week,” Radford said.
“It was something where I was kicking myself and he was kicking himself but he was top drawer tonight.”
