10:45am: Firefighters have contained a second bushfire which was sparked in the escarpment at the back of Tarrawanna Tuesday morning.
It comes as another bushfire erupted in a similar location Monday night. Police are investigating whether both fires were deliberately lit.
The first fire burnt out an area of scrub around 50 metres square, the latter around 30 metres square.
Rural Fire Service Operational Officer Col Church said volunteers had to deal with added hazards of tiger snakes and steep terrain.
He also reminded the public fire season was not over with a lot of dry scrub around.
“It’s very dry out there and we haven’t had a great deal of rain, so it wouldn’t take much for a fire to occur,” he said.
“If anyone sees any fire activity or suspicious activities around to make sure they ring triple zero.”
