Staff at Bellambi Public and Corrimal East Public contacted police about 9.30am Monday to report threats made to the schools, which were then evacuated as a precaution.
Police searched the schools, finding nothing sinister.
They arrested a 32-year-old woman at a home on Loch Carron Avenue at Farmborough Heights, a short time later.
The woman was taken to Wollongong Police Station, where she allegedly assaulted two police officers.
She was charged with two counts each of giving false information, using a carriage service to make a hoax threat and assaulting an officer.
She faced court later Monday.
