It won’t be a scorching summer’s day but, hey, Wollongong can still expect a warm and sunny December 25.
The Bureau of Meteorology's early festive forecast predicts the city will reach a maximum of 25 degrees on Christmas Day. The temperature will be a few degrees warmer inland at Albion Park.
The sunshine will be a welcome gift for beachgoers and those with outdoor festivities planned – particularly given the repeated bouts of stormy weather experienced in recent days.
More storms are on the (pre-Christmas) cards – but they should clear ahead of Santa’s arrival.
There’s the high chance of showers on Wednesday evening, as well as the possibility of a storm.
At this stage, Thursday and Saturday will be the wettest days in Wollongong.
Thursday will bring a high chance of showers – with between three and 10 millimetres possible – as well as the chance of a storm.
Friday will be cooler, as winds shift southerly, with a shower or two forecast.
Saturday is also set to be stormy, with 4-10mm forecast in the city.
Looking further ahead, Santa should expect smooth flying conditions when he arrives in Wollongong on Monday night, or early on Tuesday morning; light winds and an overnight low of 17 degrees are forecast.
