With 2019 marking the fourth edition of the competition at Camden Rugby Park, the Timberwolves are yet to be defeated at the tournament.
However with eight Illawarra rugby union teams entered, this year could be different according to Camden Rugby Club president Richard Old.
"It's one of the better days of footy in the year," Old said. "It's great for rugby in our area in southwest Sydney and the Illawarra, it's the only 10s tournament in the area.
"We've got the defending champions, the Timberwolves, back this year, they've won three years in a row and have come to defend their title."
The Timberwolves are a travelling group of rugby players who play in sevens and 10s tournaments around NSW, raising money for charities including Heartkids. Given their experience at the shorter forms of the game, the side is sure to be at their best come Saturday.
The competition marks the unofficial launch of the Illawarra rugby season, with the Macarthur 10s followed by next week's Kiama Sevens and the full season commencing in early April.
The Illawarra contingent on Saturday will feature Tech Waratahs, Kiama, Shoalhaven, two Camden teams, Campbelltown and Wolondilly, while the Illawarra Ibis will act as a wildcard entrant.
"The Timberwolves are one of the better teams in Sydney, but with so many Illawarra teams it should be a close competition."
