Last week on the interchange a mother taking her daughter to school was confronted by a driver travelling the wrong way.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokeswoman said measures such as directional signs had already been installed.
"RMS is always looking at ways to improve safety at busy interchanges across NSW," she said.
"As part of the Albion Park Rail bypass, a left slip lane will be removed, two lanes will be provided around the roundabout and traffic lights will be installed to improve traffic flow and safety.
"Major construction of the Albion Park Rail bypass, including changes to Oak Flats interchange, will be completed in 2022."
