Mia and Jack are the most popular baby names in Australia, according to a new survey.Jack topped the boys' list, followed by William and Lachlan, while Mia proved the most popular for girls ahead of Chloe and Isabella.Jack has been the most popular name seven times in the past nine years - and the past five years in a row, according to McCrindle Research, which released the 2008 baby names list.Social researcher Mark McCrindle said the fashion of names had changed significantly in a generation.In 1950, John was the most popular boy's name but is now ranked 80th."Now that Generation X are parents, they're showing their conservative side," Mr McCrindle said in a statement."Today's parents are avoiding gender neutral names ... yet there is a creativity in their conservatism with the traditional names sharing the top 10.The top 10 namesBoys: Jack, William, Lachlan, Joshua, Riley, Thomas, Cooper, Oliver, James and Ethan.Girls: Mia, Chloe, Isabella, Charlotte, Emily, Ella, Olivia, Sienna, Ava and Sophie.
