Transport for NSW has scheduled trackwork between Central and Port Kembla stations this weekend.
The work being done includes signal upgrading, track reconditioning at Coalcliff and graffiti removal.
From the early hours of Saturday through to 2am on Monday, buses will replace trains between the Illawarra and Sydney.
There will be 11 different bus routes running between Sydney and the Illawarra.
Some will stop at all stations in the Illawarra while others only stop at main stations like Dapto, Wollongong and Thirroul.
Trains will run between Bomaderry and Kiama but will be on a changed timetable with some services leaving up to an hour earlier than usual.
