Jessie Brown and the victim were together for a number of years until their recent separation, which resulted in police taking out an apprehended domestic violence order on behalf of her boyfriend to protect him from her aggressive behaviour.
However, despite the order banning the pair from having contact or seeing each other, the court heard the two were together at an address in Oak Flats on August 10 when they got into an argument, prompting the man to leave the property on foot.
He began walking down Central Avenue when Brown drove up behind him in a white Toyota Corolla.
She stopped the car and got out, brandishing a piece of timber. She demanded her boyfriend return belongings her believed he'd taken when he left, including her identification, mobile phone and spare keys to her car.
At some stage during the confrontation, Brown swung the piece of timber at the man, hitting him in the arm.
He began to walk off, prompting Brown to get back in her car and accelerate towards him.
The vehicle mounted the gutter and collided with the victim, causing him to land on the bonnet.
Brown then drove about 10 metres along the road with her boyfriend clinging to the windscreen wipers before she slammed on her brakes.
The victim fell off the bonnet and hit his head on the bitchumen. He briefly lost consciousness, police said.
Brown immediately drove off without offering him any assistance.
He was helped by nearby witnesses before being taken to Shellharbour Hospital where he was treated for fractures to his left wrist and left ankle.
Police arrested Brown the following day and seized the Corolla as evidence.
When interviewed, the 26-year-old admitted driving at her boyfriend but claimed she had swerved at the last minute and it had been he who had jumped on the bonnet.
She claimed he was trying to bend and break her windscreen wipers and ignoring her as she yelled at him to get off.
Brown said she drove off immediately after the victim fell from the bonnet because she was fearful he might get up and assault her.
She admitted swinging the piece of timber at her boyfriend but denied it hit him.
Brown pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, failing to stop and assist after an impact causing injury, common assault and contravening an AVO in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday.
She remains on bail and will face sentencing on October 16.
