Five NSW Ambulance paramedics and a specialist medical team have now released the 29-year-old woman who was initially trapped near Seven Mile Beach on Crooked River Road around 12.30pm.
She is being treated for serious back and leg injuries.
The woman is in a serious but stable condition.
Paramedics have transported her to Royal North Shore Hospital by helicopter.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Faye Stockman said the woman was walking up a path after having a surf when the tree fell on her.
"When we arrived the patient was in a lot of distress and she feared her back was broken," she said.
"We immediately treated the woman and worked to get her out from under the tree.
"The woman was trapped for about 40 minutes before being released.
"An incident like this is unpredictable and quite shocking for anyone to witness.
"There were a lot of tourists in the area and we urge people to take care and be aware of their surroundings as they enjoy their holidays.
"The last thing we want is for people to experience a tragedy while they have a well-earnt break at this time of year."
There was a multi-agency response from SES, NSW Ambulance, Police and Rural Fire Service to rescue the woman.
