However, the fish didn't seem to have same impression earlier this week and over last weekend.
There were some yellowfin caught out of Sydney and further north and again further down and well south of us, with both areas experiencing a red hot bite.
There were multiple reports of 70 plus kilo tuna captured out of Batemans Bay and further south at Narooma.
There have been a couple of captures of broadbill swordfish taken from the deep, very deep southern canyons over the past couple of weeks.
That news only came to light this week and has raised quite a few eyebrows in the game fishing fraternity.

The reefs fished well over the last week with some solid snapper hitting the tables.
Fish to 5 kilos and bigger were taken on fresh squid baits at places such as Wollongong reef and the humps.
All reports suggest, as per the norm at this time of year, the reds are schooling under the balls of baitfish that are forming at present.
There have been some good sized sampson fish on the deeper reefs along with plenty of big blue mowies and pigfish as well.
There were a couple of decent sized kingfish caught last weekend at Bellambi and Port Islands with fish over the 10 kilo mark coming in but unfortunately no quantity just yet.
Beaches and rocks continue to fire. There's some great fishing be had with plenty of big bream and tarwhine about of late.
Dave Caldwell brought one in to be weighed which went just under the 1.7 kilo mark.
There have been heaps of salmon and tailor off the rocks with the occasional dusting form a big hood-sized king for those chucking slugs around.
There have been plenty of jewfish caught over the last couple of weeks, but as has been reported, there are just no legal size in them.
